Esther Punderson Johnson was born in New Haven in 1743 and died in New Haven in1824. She was the wife of Ebenezer Johnson (1737-1818).

She is the daughter of Thomas Punderson and Mary Miles and a direct descendant of John Punderson, an early settler of the New Haven Colony who came over from Rowley, Yorkshire in 1639 and owned property directly across the street from the present day J. Press store, on York Street in New Haven.
